I think we
have all had these moments. It doesn’t matter how “together” we try to keep
every aspect of our lives, the truth is we all feel this way at some point. (Many
of us more than others.)
If you are
among most, you have that ever present list that daily reminds you of the
feeling that “you are not good enough.”
“Never
pretty enough”, “Never talented enough”, “Never nice enough for people to
notice”, “Never thin enough”, “Never accomplished at work”, “Never having the
marriage or relationship that measures up”,
“Never going to achieve your dreams”,
and how about that one “You don’t measure up as a MOM”.
The “Never”
list of our lives can go on forever and take over our minds if we let it.
Many times
we can be literally crippled by this list. We sit and compare ourselves to
others over and over. The list of available articles on “What to do when you
feel like a failure” and “How to stop feeling like a failure” are in abundance.
Why?
Because this can be a real feeling to each of us!
The
important thing to remember is that how we feel is not who we are! A quote from author Toni Sorenson reminds us
that we might feel like failures, but as long as we are still trying we are not
failures, we are works in progress.
Ephesians
2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
When life
slaps you in the face with these feelings of “not good enough” we must find our
confidence again. We must have our confidence renewed! The real truth is…YOU
will never be good enough! You will always lack confidence if it is based on YOUR ability to have it "all together". When we try to achieve this in our own ability we will always
come up lacking.
Our
confidence comes from God! He is the source that gives us the strength to press
on through our “Never list”. He is the
one that has our back and holds our strength in the very palm of His hand.
Philippians
1:6 Being confident of this very thing that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.
Our Lord
also reminds us in
2Corinthians
12:9 “My Grace is sufficient for you, My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore most gladly “I will rather
boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
When we are
weak, He is strong!
As a child,
I remember singing the song “He’s still working on me to make me what I ought
to be”. So true! It’s not just the children- God is still working on us too!!!
My prayer
today is that our confidence be renewed in God! Have courage to continue and
when the enemy tries to convince you that “you are not good enough”….tell Him
He’s right…..you are not good enough…..BUT YOUR GOD is good enough to see you
through every success and even every failure!
Thank you
for reading today! Be Blessed! If you were encouraged today let others know,
you never know who you may impact!
